“Those Who Are Building Worship To God” (Ezra 1:5-11)

May the grace and love of God be upon you who is listening to God’s voice today in this worship.

NASA will send humans to moon back through a space shuttle as Artemis Project after half century passed on 1972. Four astronauts will be on board in the rocket to moon. And this project sending humans to moon might be not one time adventure but continuous visitation on moon to find possibility of residing of human.

AI and remote health care and smart farm technologies will be applied to set up the possibility on moon.

When human body reacts differently in space from on earth. If humans stay in space station a year. 20% protein in human body become reduced and face will be bigger due to blood stream. There is no gravitation, so blood flows all way, not like on earth. So, head becomes bigger and arms and legs become smaller as ET.

This project might try to test these matters of human body during a long stay in moon. This means that humans began to plan to reside on moon as expanding of residence on earth.

God created heaven and earth. He created all universe and did moon as well. And humans have great mission. This is to survive. They have been searching for that mission from Genesis. They have been searching for more great mission to worship God as well.

Today Bible let us know how God search those who worship in history.

Let us read Ezra 1:5-7 together,

“Then the family heads of Judah and Benjamin, and the priests and Levites, everyone whose heart God had moved, prepared to go up and build the house of the Lord in Jerusalem. All their neighbors assisted them with articles of silver and gold, with goods and livestock, and with valuable gifts, in addition to all the freewill offerings. Moreover, King Cyrus brought out the articles belonging to temple of the Lord, which Nebuchadnezzar had carried away from Jerusalem and had placed in the temple of his god.”

People of Israel was destroyed and sent to Baylon as exile B.C 586 and after 70 years later new empire Persia destroyed Babylon and became reigning power on all nations there.

One day the King Cyrus ordered people of Judah go back to their home country for building the Holy temple for worshipping God. He said that was order from God. That was his mission to rebuild the temple that was destroyed by king of Nebuchadnezzar of Baylon.

That temple was built by King Solomon to worship God and the rebuilding the temple is new mission ordered from God on himself.

Verse 2 says,

“this is what Cyrus king of Persia says, “The Lord, the God of heaven, has given me all the kingdom of the earth and he has appointed me to build a temple for him at Jerusalem in Judah.”

Cyrus was the king of Persia not king of Judah. He has not been in any worship or sacrifice or leaning word of God. But surprisingly he was saying about God who created heaven and earth.

We don’t know why the king of gentile have known about God. But we can guess that God might have been touching his life and certainly he did order people of Judah to go back to their country for rebuilding temple. There might be various reasons such as political or religious causes, but it was the fact for people to rebuild temple.

God reigning history might give him mission as ruler of that era. That was to rebuild worship God through temple.

President Obama have lived in Indonesia in his younger age due to his mother’s second marriage. He has learned culture of Asian there and he grew up Chicago. There he has some friends from Korean and leaned legacy of them from their families. He said, this kind of various experiences would be very helpful to understand people and world.

Cyrus, king of Persia, might have had similar experiences in his life journey. We can guess it, but we don’t know exact reason. This is clear that God made him to build worship and worship place in his reign in era.

Cyrus appointed governor Sheshbazzar to lead people heading Jerusalem with lots of treasures. He helped them with people and resources and law.

Verse 5 says,

“Then the family heads of Judah and Benjamin, and the priests and Levites, everyone whose heart God had moved, prepared to go up and build the house of the Lord in Jerusalem.”

Tribe of Judah and Benjamin and Levites were the main tribes of Judah nation from the beginning of the nation. They were gathered again after 70 years of exile for rebuild worship and temple. They have left with many hands of help and blessing to Jerusalem for their mission. They have arrived the place finally of worship and have built the worship place successfully after 15 years later.

Worship is great commandment to all human being who has the image of God. God created all of us with His wonderful image. So, we must give Him glory as children of God.

Brothers and sisters in the Lord,

God is finding worshippers now to praise and to glorify Him. God is working in human history through worshippers. That is the way of God reigning the world. There were many people and many Judah people but only those who were responded went there to build worship and temple. God has used people voluntarily answered to calling from God.

We have spiritual DNA in us. We are called from God as worshipper to glorify God in our life. God promised us to bless those who is worshipping Him through praise.

Jesus Christ said to a lady in Samaria that God is searching those who is worshipping for his glory.

John’s Gospel 4:23 say,

“Yet a time is coming and has now come when the true
Worshipper will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for they are the kind of worshippers the Father seeks.”

Some Korean harbor workers went to a harbor in Spain 50 years ago. They were gathered Sunday a place for worship and sent a letter to Korea mission department of church asking a preacher for their worship. A pastor responded them and after some months later he left heading to them there. But there was no one because all of them returned to Korea due to quitting their contract. But the pastor accepted that situation as call from God to build a worship place there. He did not return to Korea and began to worship alone there and to seek worshipers again. He gathered Koreans who wanted to join in worship there and the small congregation was grown in few years. That became the first Korean church in Spain. He knew that God seeks worshippers always and He send them where people want to give praises to the Lord.

Psalm 111:10 say,

“ the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom; al who follow his precepts have good understanding. To him belongs eternal praise.”

God be with all of you, Amen.
