“It May Be To Me As You Have Said” (Luke’s Gospel 1:30-38)
May the grace and love of God be upon you who is listening to God’s voice today in this worship.
Mark Matney is a planet scientist in NASA. He announced recently about possibility of big star that Magi have seen in Matthew’s Gospel, at his scientistic research in a Journal of the British Astronomical Association. After various researching he has reached on there has been a planet passing by earth very close as distance from moon when Jesus Christ has born B.C.5.
He suggested some evidence from records of China, Han dynasty in same years. The document said about 70 days big and bright star.
In Bible the star stayed Bethlehem once wisemen visited a place of birth of Jesus Christ. Mark said that that is moment of earth rotation and the planet orbit passing by exactly matched.
If the wisemen, Magi have not followed the star, they might not have seen the star stayed on the place of Christ born. God have used them to worship Christ. And the Magi responded what God called.
Except Magi, all other people did not respond. They did not do anything to it. Only those who respond what God call can be made to use for God’s work.
Today Bible introduces one life to respond God’s calling. She is Mary, mother of Jesus Christ.
Let us read together Matthew’s Bible 1:35-38,
“The angel answered., “The Holy Sprit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you, So the holy one to be born will be called the Son of God. Even Elizabeth your relative is going to have a child in er old age, and she who was said in be barren is in her sixth month. For nothing is impossible with God. “I am the Lord’s servant.” Mary answered. “May it be to me as you have said.” Then the angel left her.”
Mary, a lady promised marriage with Joseph, a man in Nazareth, a town of Galilee. One day an angel from God have come to her, notifying her pregnant by Holy Spirit. She was surprised and worried about it. Because it was against law to have child before marriage and can be at risk of life. When she was worried about, the angel
Announced that that belong to work of God. When she listened what God called her, she obeyed that. And She became mother of Jesus Christ, and her husband Joseph became guardian for the baby and mother.
Verse 37-38, Mary said,
“For nothing is impossible with God. “I am the Lord’s servant.” Mary answered. “May it be to me as you have said.”
God called and she responded so that the history of salvation went through.
There is not any special ability or knowledge from humans. Great is only God not human being. But when humans obey and respond, the work of God go through. We can be great when we can be used to work by God Almighty. Only those who respond to calling from God can be passage of work of great God.
Noah in Genesis has built the ark for 120 years under long mock of people. He only responded to God not human and world when God called to him. So, he could be only person to save seeds of life for human history’s future in The Great Flood.
Our faith overcomes common sense, knowledge, and scholarship. The truth from God is beyond one from world. Because God made all and sovereign all as well.
Apostle Paul responded God’s calling when he lost his vision in the road to Damascus. He encountered the risen Lord in his way of life and became apostle for gentile as the will of God. His respond went through plan of God to save people in the Roman world.
Brothers and sisters in the Lord!
Let us respond when God call us. When we obey it, we can be used to great work of God to save, heal, and restore life of world according to plan of God.
When Abraham responded God, he became the Father of all faith people. Moses responded God he could save his own people from slavery in Egypt and lead them to the Promise Land.
When is the best powerful moment of children of God? When we obey God to respond, we can be the powerful and best in the world. Because God is with us.
I John 2:5 say,
“But if anyone obeys is word, God’s love is truly made complete in him. This is love we know we are in him.”
One faithful man served his church diligently, so church asked him to serve higher position. But he refused because he did not want to put more time and resources for church. He wanted to make balanced business and service. 10 years later, he responded to the second chance serving his church. He recognized that there was not any successful one without grace of God. After obeyed calling from God he found eventually spiritual balance with truth from God.
I John 2:6 say,
“Whoever claims to live in him must walk as Jesus did.”
God be with all of you, Amen.
