“He Has Risen” (Mark’s Gospel 16:1-20)

May the grace and love of God be upon you who is listening to God’s voice today in this worship.

When I completed classes for discipleship training, I used to ask participants about learning process with questions about what the difficult theme was. Most of them were a matter of resurrection. They said, “understanding resurrection is difficult among various theological or Biblical themes.” they confessed, “but I now understood that.”  It was for me very gracious moment as believer.

Truth is the matter of believing. It is not to believe due to understanding but to understand due to believe.

Love is same matter. As it is to understand due to love.

Four Gospels, Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John’s Gospel have recorded on resurrection of Christ. And all responses of all people who heard this were same. They did not believe it. Because they have not seen that kind of unbelievable thing.

But for God who created all life in the world it could be and possible. All things possible in God, creator and Lord of the world.

Jesus Christ rebuked his disciples who did not believe his resurrection from the death when He met after has risen. It was for Lord Jesus Christ to make them believe the resurrection is important for their salvation. Because those who believe in the risen Lord will be resurrected in heaven.

Let us read together Mark’s Gospel 16:14-18, Today Bible verse.

“Later Jesus appeared to the Eleven as they were eating; he rebuked them for their lack of faith and their stubborn refusal to believe those who had seen him after he has risen. He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the good news to all creation. Whoever believes ad is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned. And these signs will accompany those who believe: In my name they will drive out demons; they will speak in new tongues; They will pick up snakes with their hands; and when they drink deadly poison, it will not hurt them at all; they will place their hands on sick people, and they will get well.”

We have two pillars of faith; one is experiencing faith and the other is resurrected faith. These two keep our faith steadfastly to God.

All faith must be experienced. Faith is not just concept or knowledge. Faith toward God is formed by real experiences with God.

The resurrection is foundation of our faith to connect with God beyond life and death. What is the resurrection? This is the confession to continue our life beyond death. Death is the end of all life. But through resurrection we continuously connect with eternal God through Jesus Christ, the risen Lord.

Brothers and sisters in the Lord,

This is why our Lord Jesus Christ rebuked his disciples who did not believe the word from those who have seen Him after he has risen.

What is the other names of saints? That is the witness of resurrection. Only those who believe the risen Lord can be resurrected in kingdom of God as the Lord Jesus Christ has resurrected beyond the death.

In Act 1, eleven disciples gathered all to elect one place that dead Judas had. They elected Matthias from two, Joseph and Matthias, nominated. They were both qualified as disciples.

Act 2:22 says about the qualification as this,

“beginning from John’s baptism to the time when Jesus was taken up from us. For one of these must become a witness with us of his resurrection.”

The witness of Lord’s resurrection is our mission of follower to Jesus Christ. All miracle and healing and blessing come from this faith of resurrection of Jesus Christ.

We will be living with God through resurrection. This is our blessing and gift in God as saints and children of God who believe in God.

Resurrection is to live with new resurrected body. Our physical body will be perished but the newly resurrected body will be given from God and live eternal life in heaven with God.

I Corinthians 15:22 say,

“For as in Adam all die, so in Christ all will be made alive.”

Lord Jesus Christ has shown him after he has risen to Mary, Peter, two disciples on the road to Emmaus, and five hundred men at once. Jesus showed his hand and side with scars to Thomas.

Lord Jesus ate with disciples and passed the wall to the room where his disciples gathered for dinner. This is like that Jesus lived as different dimension rather than us live. As we live 3rd dimension and He lives 4th dimension.

He had the resurrected body after has risen that did not limit on time and place in this world. He is transcendent dimension where all resurrected life is in heaven.

II Corinthians 5:1 say,

“Now we know that if the earthly tent we live in is destroyed, we have a building from God. And eternal house in heaven, not built by human hands.”

Resurrection and eternal life are perfect gifts from God to give us who believe in God.

I Corinthians 15:49 say,

“And just as we have borne the likeness if the earthly man, so shall we bear the likeness of the man from heaven.”

We will be risen as Jesus Christ has risen when we believe in
Him.

Corinthians 14:20 say,

“But Christ has indeed been raised from the dead, the first fruits of those who have fallen asleep.”

I hope today this gift of resurrection could by yours!

This world wants to keep things in this world. But we want to keep Godly things in heaven. We see glory in God no see glory in world.

Let us pray that we can see the face of the risen Lord with New body resurrected given from the eternal God, Almighty. when our physical body ends.

Matthew’s Gospel 28:6 say,

“He is not here; he has risen, just as he said. Come and see the place he lay”

All of us can hear this voice of angels when we confess the risen Lord.

God be with all of you, Amen.
